MEIGS, GA (WTXL) - The mayor of Meigs has been arrested again, this time for misusing a city credit card.

According to the Thomas County Sheriff's Office, Mayor Linda Harris turned herself in Tuesday after a warrant was put out for her arrest. She was charged with three counts of financial transaction card fraud and one count of violating the oath of office.

The arrest stems from December 21 when Harris asked to throw a Christmas party in Meigs, deputies said. The council voted down the measure, but officials said the next day she took a city credit card and charged a combined $138 for party supplies at three different stores.

Harris was arraigned Tuesday and posted $12,500 bond, deputies said.

Since Harris has been in office, she has also been arrested for theft from the city and reportedly told police officers not to respond to certain calls after the city lost its insurance.

A recall election is scheduled for March, the Thomas County Board of Elections said.
