MEIGS, Ga. (WTXL) - The city of Meigs, which had been operating under no liability or property insurance since Sunday, will soon have coverage.
Monday night, the city council voted 3 to 1 to accept insurance from a different company...with exceptions.
Meigs council members accepted J.P. West with exclusions, including public official liability insurance.
The city previously had insurance with Georgia Municipal Association, but they terminated Meigs' property and liability insurances, saying their losses in recent years are "unacceptable", adding that the lawsuits against the mayor are part of the reason for the termination.
The city is expected to sign off and pay the first payment of the new insurance Tuesday morning.
No word on if or when they will get public official liability insurance.
