TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Veterans, advocates, patients, and activists gathered Wednesday to rally for Governor Rick Scott to retract his decision to repeal several cases involving medical marijuana.
Activist Gary Stein says the decision to repeal the cases is the state's way of prolonging full access to those in need of medical marijuana.
He says the medication could help veterans with PTSD as well as patients fighting cancer.
"The whole point of the amendment in 2016 was to give people access to this life saving medicine and those statutes written by the legislature basically restricted that access. Without access to this medicine, the people are going to die," said Stein.
The amendment to legalize medical marijuana was voted into effect in 2016.
Similar rallies were held in Orlando and West Palm Beach.
