DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) — Federal investigators probing a fatal plane crash near Georgia's border with Alabama say mechanical failure doesn't appear to have been a factor in the crash.
National Transportation Safety Board spokesman Keith Holloway told the Dothan Eagle (http://bit.ly/1BibHUJ ) that a preliminary report on the September 2014 crash found that engine controls and other components were working properly at the time of the crash. Authorities have said Steven Alec Haase and David Michael Marlow died in the crash.
Authorities have said the plane crashed into the Chattahoochee River near Fort Gaines, Georgia. The plane was flying from the Headland Municipal Airport and was headed for Weedon Field in Eufaula.
Holloway says the cause of the crash is still undetermined.
