TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum visited the Capital City's future leaders Monday.

Gillium spoke with youth employees at the Future Leaders Academy. He first started the program in 2015, and it's goal is to employ local high school age students for eight weeks during the summer.

Throughout the program, students are placed in jobs across the city government, private sector, and for the first time this year, the nonprofit sector as well.

"We know that these experiences over the summer are more than just a summer job," Gillum explained. "This is opportunity for folks to get skills, get exposure, and more than anything, I think it has the opportunity to change life trajectory for our young people."
