TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum is hosting his biennial Tallahassee Forward Summit Wednesday night.
The summit will feature a panel discussing race relations in Tallahassee and ways the community can build and grow a more united Tallahassee.
Gillum says, with recent events like the Richard Spencer speech at the University of Florida and the deadly Charlottesville protests, the talks are needed.
"To me, it's really important that we lead in Tallahassee," Gillum said. "This is something that I think we do really well. We're willing to have these tough conversations and equip our community with the skills that they need to navigate these talks in a one-on-one way in their in businesses, in their schools, on university campuses, in our civic and religious organizations."
The summit also featuring a keynote address by CNN contributor Bakari Sellars.
