TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Every month, WTXL ABC27 honors one local student who goes above and beyond, in and out of the classroom.
This month, the 7th grader earning the honor, is taking his talents to the Big Apple.
Maxwell Vanhoeij is our April Super Student of the Month!
Max goes to Cobb Middle School in Tallahassee where he's received all A's in his classes and in the honors/gifted talented program at the school.
He is also very involved in music, playing the violin. Max will be performing at Carnegie Hall in New York City in June for the Honors Performance Series.
"I was pretty surprised because right after my algebra EOC," says Max about getting the Super Student of the Month award, "I mean this is one of the last things I was expecting."
"He does quite a bit and a lot of people don't know how much he does to keep up his grades and to keep up his music," explain Max's mother Susan Vanhoeij. "We're really proud of him."
Max also recently performed three different times during Tallahassee Music Week.
In addition to his music involvement, Max also plays baseball and has volunteered with the Leon County Humane Society.
