Marines Bring Donations to Thomasville Salvation Army

Posted

THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - Friday night, the Salvation Army is gathering hundreds of toys, boxes of food, and bags of clothing for families in need in the Thomasville area.

While the Salvation Army has filled almost every request for those in need this Christmas, the Marines are stepping in to make sure not one family goes without.

Friday afternoon the Marines came to the rescue, bringing with them donations for the 200 families who's requests still needed to be filled.

Reporter Brittany Kleinpeter got to tour the facility where they're keeping all of the donations, where the delivery process will begin Saturday.

Salvation Army officials say that every year the Thomasville community comes together to help distribute items.

This year is no different.

Major Christina Taylor, a Thomasville corp officer, said that she was greeted by families at an area middle school this morning as she collected donations, those families telling her that distributing gifts for those in need is what makes Christmas special.

The Thomasville Salvation Army is still in need of volunteers for bell ringing this holiday season.
