MARIANNA, Fla. (WTXL) - A Marianna man is facing multiple charges after holding a store clerk at gunpoint and stealing money from a convenience store's cash register.

Keith Jones, 49, was arrested by the Marianna Police Department on Wednesday.

On June 20 around 8:53 a.m., officers responded to the Chipola Mart convenience store on Lafayette Street in response to an armed robbery.

When officers arrived it was determined that Jones entered the store, went to the bathroom, and then robbed the clerk of the store at gunpoint.

Officers state Jones forced the clerk to open the cash register and then took out all the money.

According to officers, Jones was wearing a mask at the time of the robbery and fled the scene before they arrived.

Officers obtained information that Jones lived at an apartment in Gibb Marianna Village. Due to the nature of the offense and the possibility that Jones may be inside the home, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team was notified and responded to the scene.

A search warrant for the residence at Gibb Marianna Village was then applied for and granted.

BCSO SWAT entered the residence but was unable to locate Jones. A short time later, investigators were made aware of Jones’ whereabouts and were able to take him into custody at the intersection of Milton Avenue and Harrison Street.

Based on the evidence, Jones is being charged with robbery with a firearm and grand theft.

He was transported to the Marianna Police Department for processing and later taken to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
