MARIANNA, Fla. (WTXL) - Police say a Marianna man forced his way into a residence, armed himself with a knife, and battered an adult and a small child before fleeing in a stolen vehicle.
Shawnest Ivey, 37, was stopped by a Jackson County deputy while riding in the victim's vehicle and arrested Sunday, according to a Marianna Police Department news release.
Before leaving the residence within Pebble Hill Estates , Ivey threatened to commit bodily harm to the adult victim and used a kitchen pot to commit battery upon the victim and the victim's small child.
Ivey was transported to the Jackson County Correction Facility to await a first court appearance.
He faces several charges:
- aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
- false imprisonment
- burglary while armed
- aggravated abuse of a child
- domestic battery
- depriving the use of 911
- grand theft of a motor vehicle
- grand theft over $300
- criminal mischief over $1,000
