MARIANNA, FL (WTXL) - Jackson County deputies arrested a Marianna couple after their children were locked in littered, roach-infested bedrooms.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, just before midnight Saturday, deputies, along with the Department of Children and Families, responded to a child abuse complaint at a residence on Callaway Street.
They found three children ages two, three, and four in the custody of their parents, Shane Ratliff, 33, and Constance Ratliff, 24.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says that two of the children were locked in different unfurnished bedrooms with "make-shift cage like doors." Deputies say that the rooms were infested with roaches and covered with trash.
Another bedroom was found with dirty diapers scattered all over the floor while the rest of the house was trashed and covered with cat feces, according to deputies.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office reports that Shane Ratliff and Constance Ratliff were both arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated child abuse and one count of child abuse.
The Department of Children and Families took custody of the three children.
