OKALOOSA, FLA. (WALA) - A Georgia man who thought it would be funny to push a four year old and an eight year old into a swimming pool at a Destin resort is now charged with two counts of child abuse.
Bruce McCarty Johnson 58, of Macon, Ga. was at the Pelican Beach Resort, 1002 East Highway 98, when he walked behind the two girls and pushed them both into the water Sunday, June 18, around 4 p.m.
The four year old did not know how to swim and was struggling to stay above the water when a female tourist from Colorado jumped in to rescue her.
Officials say Johnson did not know the two victims nor their family members.
