ATLANTA (AP) - A Stone Mountain man has been sentenced for his role in a string of armed robberies whose victims were lured using Craigslist.
U.S. District Chief Judge Thomas W. Thrash Jr. sentenced 23-year-old Lavunte Collins Monday to 13 years and six months in prison.
According to U.S. Attorney John A. Horn, between May 6 and May 20, 2013, Collins robbed five sets of victims of their phones, wallets and cash after arranging to meet through Craigslist.
In each case the victims arranged through a Craigslist vendor to meet Collins to buy an iPhone or other devices. The vendor directed the victims to meet at a residence and upon their arrival Collins would enter, or attempt to enter, their car. He then robbed the victims at gunpoint and fled on foot.
