JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of the man killed in a standoff with law enforcement agents in Mississippi as officers tried to arrest him on charges from Georgia.

Mississippi State Trooper Eric Henry tells local media outlets that 36-year-old Kenyatta Lee Moorehead came out of a closet with a shotgun and shots were fired about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. Moorehead then barricaded himself in the home.

Members of a U.S. Marshals Task Force were serving a warrant at a home near Raymond, south of Jackson. Henry says Moorehead was wanted in Georgia on charges including rape, aggravated sodomy and burglary.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation will try to determine who fired the first shots and whether Moorehead was wounded in the initial exchange of gunfire with law enforcement officers.
