THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - A Moultrie man was arrested Tuesday after trying to steal an all-terrain vehicle from a Thomas County Fire and EMS station.

Brandon Cooper, 30, is charged with felony theft by taking.

Police say Cooper tired to steal a Polaris ATV from the station on Remington Avenue.

Firefighters were inside the building when they heard the ATV start, and when they went outside, they saw Cooper trying to drive the Polaris off the trailer it was parked on.

Police say Cooper then ran into a nearby wooded area, where he was later captured and arrested.

The Thomasville Times-Enterprise reports that the ATV was valued at $12,000.

Cooper was booked into the Thomas County Jail.
