HAVANA, Fla. (WTXL) - One person has been hospitalized following a shooting at a local pool hall.
On Tuesday, the Havana Police Department was called to The Spot pool hall in the 400 block of North Main Street. Police say they received a tip about a person walking around the parking lot with a gun.
As officers responded to the area, multiple shots were fired by an unknown individual(s). Police say officers immediately secured the scene and began interviewing witnesses.
A few moments later, officers were notified by the Gadsden County Sheriff's office that deputies were responding to a shooting on Washington Avenue. Havana PD officers responded to the scene as well to see if that shooting was connected to the shooting at the pool hall.
When officers interviewed the victim, he said that he was sitting in a car at The Spot when two bullets hit him in his torso. The victim said he then walked away from the area and went to a relative's home on Washington Avenue.
Police say the victim was transported to the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
"He gave a statement saying that he was at The Spot for a birthday party when someone started shooting. Two shots struck the subject in the abdomen area," said Havana Police Chief Tracy Smith. "He then left the area, got out of the car, and ran to a relatives house up on Washington Avenue."
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 850-539-2800.
