Man seriously injured in two-vehicle accident in Taylor

TAYLOR COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident in Taylor County. 

Eric Heckler, 57, of Jacksonville, Fla. suffered serious injuries in the accident. 

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 12:46 p.m. Friday on I-10 near mile marker 248. 

FHP said Heckler and his passenger were traveling west on I-10, pulling a camper trailer.  

FHP stated a semi-truck was passing Heckler, when Heckler lost control of his car. 

According to FHP, Heckler's car hit the back of the semi-truck's trailer, causing his car to spin and overturn. 

Heckler sustained serious injuries and was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, but his passenger was unharmed in the accident. 

The driver of the semi-truck was also not injured in the accident.   

FHP said alcohol did not play a factor in the accident. 

Madison County Sheriff's Office, Madison Fire Rescue, Madison County EMS, Bens Towing, and DBI helped on the scene.

FHP said Heckler is being charged with careless driving.
