DECATUR Co., Ga., (WTXL) -- A man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for the rape of a young girl in Decatur County.
A jury found Gregory Bernard Murphy, Sr. guilty on one count of rape and child molestation on Thursday.
Assistant District Attorney David Atwell filed a repeated motion on Murphy based on three prior convictions. Evidence from investigators with the Decatur County Sheriff's Office showed that Murphy raped and had sexual intercourse with the young girl between July 6, 2012 and July 31, 2014.
Murphy was sentenced to life without parole.
