MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — Cobb County District Attorney's officials say a man has been sentenced to 25 years for killing his ex-girlfriend's fiancé.
District Attorney's spokeswoman Kim Isaza said Thursday that 41-year-old Patrick Lamar Burr admitted to killing 24-year-old Arthur Moses Jr. in December 2012 and was sentenced for voluntary manslaughter, felony murder, aggravated assault and weapons offenses.
Authorities say Burr and the victim's fiancee dated for 11 years before breaking up in October. Isaza says Burr found out his ex-girlfriend and Moses were engaged and shot Moses five times while he was sitting in a parked car.
Isaza says Burr has been held in the Cobb County jail without bond since the shooting.
Officials say Burr is ordered to serve 20 years of his sentence in prison and five on probation.
