LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Leon County Sheriff's Office got a special delivery Thursday morning.

Dick Schmelz makes clocks for sheriff's deputies in Florida. He said after two deputies were killed in Gilchrist County, he felt like he should do something special, so he made the department a clock.

Then he decided all 67 sheriff's offices in Florida should get one. He said he wants to show sheriffs that someone does care.

"Because people don't have respect for them, I want to show them respect that people do care," said Schmelz.

This is the 31st clock he's delivered so far and now he'll head home to make more. It takes about four days to make each clock and he tries to localize it for the county it's going to.

Gadsden and Wakulla will be next to receive their clocks.
