TIFTON, GA (WTXL) - A man was killed in Tifton after being hit by a train, according to police.
Tifton Police say they were called out to the railroad near Doc Melton Senior Drive and Southern Avenue on Monday.
A train engineer told police the man was lying on the tracks but they did not realize it was a person until it was too late.
The case was handed over to the Georgia State Patrol and the local coroner's office.
The coroner says they have a good idea who the victim is but are not yet positive enough to release a name.
