TAYLOR Co., FL (WTXL) - A Taylor County man appeared before a grand jury Thursday, and was indicted on murder charges stemming from an incident earlier this month.
According to police in Perry, a concerned citizen called them on January 6 to report a man, later identified as 35-year-old Billy Gear, dragging a woman into the woods near the Wal-Mart Super Center.
When officers investigated, they found 23-year-old Melissa Darnell's body, covered by leaves, limbs and debris.
Police arrested Gear a short time later.
They say at some point Gear was in a relationship with Darnell and that the two had a child together.
