Man in Serious Condition after Shooting in Greenwood

GREENWOOD, Fla. (WTXL) - Jackson County deputies are investigating a shooting in the Ditty Trailer Park area.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office said that on April 21 around 10:45 p.m., they received a call about a shooting in the Ditty Trailer Park area. A few minutes later, they were told that someone had been shot.

When they arrived, they found a after 34-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds in the chest. They said that the man was conscious, alert, and walking around but was transported to the hospital.

Investigators began gathering information from witnesses, learning that the victim had come out of him home and got into an altercation with an unknown male suspect and began tussling over a gun. The victim was ultimately shot during the struggle. 

Deputies said that there was evidence of the struggle in the yard as well as other evidence tying the suspect to the scene.

The victim is in serious but stable condition.
