WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A South Florida man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for an Interstate 95 crash that left five people dead.
A Palm Beach County judge on Tuesday gave 23-year-old Jabari Kemp six years for each vehicular homicide conviction and ordered the sentences to run consecutively.
Authorities say Kemp was speeding on an I-95 exit ramp to Riviera Beach in April 2013 when he hit the victims' car. They ranged in age from 14 to 22.
Jurors in Kemp's June trial didn't get to hear that Kemp might have been high on marijuana at the time of the crash. Kemp had previously been charged with DUI manslaughter, but a mislabeled vial on blood drawn from him after the crash invalidated his test results.
