MIAMI, FL. (AP) - Miami Police say a man was fatally shot by officers after refusing to drop his own gun.
Spokeswoman Frederica Burden says officers responded Sunday to reports of a man beating a woman at a Little Havana home. They found a woman with several cuts on her body.
Burden says the man returned while officers were at the scene. According to police, shots were fired when the man saw the officers, and then he fled in a car.
Officers followed him until he pulled over and got out, holding a gun and pointing it at the police. Burden says officers ordered the man to drop his weapon, and they fired when he refused.
The man was pronounced dead at a hospital. The woman was in critical condition. Their names weren't released.
