TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee man is facing multiple sexual abuse charges after unlawfully engaging in sexual activity with underage girls.
Gohar Umar, 46, was taken into custody by the Tallahassee Police Department on May 17.
In July 2016, Umar was arrested by TPD for lewd or lascivious conduct against a family friend who was 13-years-old. There were concerns that Umar also had access to other young girls, but the victim wasn't allowed to be forensically interviewed at the time by her legal guardian.
However on April 30, 2017, another victim was brought to TPD by a legal guardian to report that the victim had been abused by Umar as well.
While talking with officers, the legal guardian disclosed that the victim stated the abuse started when she was in second grade and stopped when she was in seventh grade after she complained to Umar that the abuse was causing her to get sick and have headaches.
The victim disclosed to her legal guardian that Umar would touch her "private parts," make her "go down on him," and make her watch pornography.
The legal guardian told officers that the victim also revealed that Umar would touch her now 15-year-old cousin and made them touch each other.
The legal guardian expressed concern to officers that the victim was not emotionally prepared to provide a disclosure in a forensic interview at the time.
According to the police report, they ultimately moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to get away from Umar and the legal guardian said she would contact their police department when she felt the victim was prepared to provide disclosures in a forensic interview.
On November 31, 2017, TPD officers were notified that the Oklahoma City Police Department conducted an interview with the victim.
During the interview, the victim said Umar kissed her lips, in her mouth, her private area, and touched inappropriately all over her body.
The victim informed Oklahoma City officers that Umar made her touch his private area with her hands and put his private area in her mouth approximately 20 times.
She said Umar would demonstrate how he wanted her to touch his private area and then told her to do it.
According to the police report, the victim was diagnosed with temporomandibular joints "TMJ" in seventh grade because she was grinding her teeth from the stress.
The police report states, the victim never told anyone, saying that she put it in the back of her mind and didn't want to hurt her legal guardian.
The victim said the abuse occurred between second and seventh grade, in which she was between the ages of 7 and 13.
The police report states, Umar was arrested for molesting a family friend and spent about a month in jail, but was released on bond.
When he was released, Gohar cut his "ankle bracelet" off, causing him to go back to jail.
While he has been in jail, the victim said she has spoken to him on the phone, however the victim states he acted like nothing ever happened.
The victim stated to Oklahoma City officers that she only told her legal guardian about the abuse once Umar was back in jail.
The victim informed Oklahoma City officers that she didn't realize what Umar did was wrong until she saw him sexually abusing her cousin.
The victim said she was abused by Umar approximately 50 times.
On Feb. 7, officers attempted to talk with Umar at the Leon County Detention Center, but he declined to provide a statement.
Based on the evidence, Umar is being charged with three counts of lewd and lascivious battery with the victims between 12 and 16 years of age and one count of fondling a victim 12 years of age or older but younger than 16-years-old.
