AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say they've arrested an 86-year-old man on a murder charge as they investigate the shooting death of another man in Augusta.

The Augusta Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/1G9JnW4) that 65-year-old Karl Alan Hardge was shot once in the upper torso. He was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center, where he died around 3 p.m. Saturday.

Richmond County sheriff's deputies were called to a home on Leland Drive and found Hardge suffering from a gunshot wound.

Richmond County sheriff's Lt. Allan Rollins said 86-year-old John Dickey Obryant faces charges of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Rollins said the suspect, who lived at the home, was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center to be treated for shortness of breath.

It wasn't known whether Obryant has an attorney.
