TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- A late night shooting happened on the northwest side of Tallahassee on Friday.
We're told a traffic stop lead to gunshots near the Arbor Landing Apartments on North Monroe Street in Tallahassee.
Brandon Mahaffey, who lives in the complex, says he was home when it happened just after 11 p.m. Friday, after Leon County Sheriff's deputies pulled over a vehicle.
Mahaffey says he doesn't know how or why the situation escalated, but it ended in an exchange of gunfire between the deputies and the driver.
“It was very scary. I laid down on the ground in my house because I didn't know where it was coming from. It definitely scared me,” said Mahaffey.
Mahaffey says the suspect ran from the scene, but was later caught by authorities.
