TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — A Tampa man has been convicted of killing another man and then displaying the victim's body to friends.
A Hillsborough County jury found 20-year-old Amer Ejak guilty of first-degree murder last week. He's scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 3.
Authorities say Ejak and a co-defendant, Christopher Cox, strangled 34-year-old Thomas Johannesen with a belt in his home at the Oak Ramble apartments in September 2009. The Tampa Bay Times reports that the pair then showed off the corpse to two women with whom they were hanging out.
Ejak was16 at the time of the attack but was tried as an adult. Cox pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last year and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
