WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A South Florida man has been convicted in an Interstate 95 crash that left five people dead.
A Palm Beach County jury found 23-year-old Jabari Kemp guilty Wednesday of five counts of vehicular homicide. He faces up to 75 years in prison at his Aug. 7 sentencing.
Authorities say Kemp was speeding on an I-95 exit ramp to Riviera Beach in April 2013 when he hit the victims' car. They ranged in age from 14 to 22.
The Palm Beach Post (http://goo.gl/8GtSQl ) reports that jurors didn't get to hear that Kemp might have been high on marijuana at the time of the crash. Kemp had previously been charged with DUI manslaughter, but a mislabeled vial on blood drawn from him after the crash invalidated his test results.
