AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) - A Georgia man convicted more than 15 years ago of shaking his infant daughter so hard she suffered massive brain damage now faces murder charges in her death.

The Augusta Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/1R4tDNi ) a Richmond County grand jury on Tuesday indicted Jerry Lee Hood on murder charges in the death of September Watson.

Hood was a teenager in 2000 when he was convicted of aggravated battery and cruelty to children for shaking Watson in January 1999.

The new charges come after 16-year-old Watson died in February. An autopsy found the pneumonia that killed her was a complication of her brain injury. Watson never walked or talked or moved on her own.

Hood is serving a 26-year prison sentence. It wasn't immediately clear whether he had a lawyer who could comment.
