LEE, FL (WTXL) - A suspect is under arrest following a high speed pursuit which led to deputies and a K-9 searching through the woods.
According to the Madison County Sheriff's Office, a deputy noticed a black Dodge traveling more than 80 miles per hour on State Road 6. When he turned on his lights, deputies said the driver refused to slow down and continued driving west at a high rate of speed.
At one point, deputies said the driver abruptly turned down a driveway. That's where deputies said he ditched the car and ran into the woods, armed with a pair of scissors.
Deputies setup a perimeter around the area where he was last seen until a K-9 unit arrived. Miso, the K-9 on scene, was able to pick up the scent and reportedly found the suspect hiding behind a large tree just across County Road 255. After seeing the dog, deputies said he surrendered.
Inside the car deputies said they found a plastic bag with synthetic marijuana, two glass smoking pipes and other drug paraphernalia.
Deputies arrested 22-year-old Blaine Rich from Pinellas County and charged him with fleeing/eluding a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer without violence, possession of synthetic marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and not having a valid driver's license. He is being held at the Madison County Jail.
