GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A man has been arrested for the death of a Quincy woman, who fell from a car on I-10 in 2017.

Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team arrested Travis Collins for the death of Shameria Thomas who was tragically killed in September 2017 on I-10 in Gadsden County.

He is being charged with kidnapping and homicide.

He is being held in the Gadsden County Jail on no bond.

GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A Quincy woman is dead after she fell from a car on the interstate Saturday night.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, it happened just before 9 p.m. in Gadsden County. Troopers say 37-year-old Shameria Thomas was inside a vehicle heading east on I-10 near mile marker 182 when she flew out of a vehicle onto the inside lane of the highway.

A few minutes later, two minivans hit Thomas' body. Neither driver noticed Thomas in the road.

Troopers do not know how Thomas fell from the vehicle, nor do they have a description of it.

The Gadsden County Sheriff's Office says that while on scene, a man claiming to be Thomas' boyfriend approached them, asking what had happened.

When deputies ran his name through their system, they discovered that the man, identified as Travis Collins, was wanted on an unrelated warrant. Though he was not immediately detained, Collins was later booked into jail for the outstanding warrant.

Deputies say it is unclear if Collins was in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

The Gadsden County Sheriff's Office says they are working hard with FHP and the State Attorney's Office to determine what exactly happened and determine if any charges will be issued.
