VALDOSTA, GA -- Police say the man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in downtown Valdosta has been arrested.
The Valdosta Police Department says John Clayton Davis was arrested on Monday.
Davis is accused of holding a woman at knife point, stealing her money and then sexually assaulting her while she was walking to work in mid-November.
Last Wednesday, police released surveillance photos of the suspect, asking for the public's help identifying him.
"I know there has been a lot of concerns by the community regarding this incident, but I am very proud of the tenacity of our officers and detectives who worked non-stop until the offender was taken into custody", said Chief Brian Childress.
