LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A man has been arrested for sending sexually explicit messages to a 14-year-old girl in Leon County.
On Feb. 1, members of the North Florida Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force conducted search and arrest warrants in the 100 block of Picolata Forest Drive in St. Johns County, Florida.
The ICAC Task Force that served the warrant consisted of members of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
The month long investigation began after a complaint was made to LCSO about 47-year-old Richard Confer, a St. Johns County resident, for sending sexually explicit messages to a 14-year-old girl via SnapChat in Leon County.
As a result of the investigation, probable cause was found for Confer’s arrest and for a search of his home.
Confer was arrested at his home while officers conducted the search warrant and he was taken to the St. Johns County Jail.
He is being charged with five counts of transmission of harmful material to a minor and one count of online solicitation of a minor.
