TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - A New York man was arrested in Tallahassee Monday for forcing his girlfriend into prostitution and for living off her earnings.
The Tallahassee Police Department says that they arrested George Walker, from New York City, after his girlfriend called police, saying that he was forcing her into prostitution.
According to the police report, Walker's girlfriend says that she met him in New York when she was 18 or 19. The report says that at that time, she was prostitute for financial support since her family was not providing for her.
The report also says that she and Walker got into a relationship, in which she asked him if he could take care of her finances. However, police say that Walker began taking the money for himself and would beat her if she did not earn enough.
According to police, the two came to Tallahassee in August, and Walker began posting online advertisements for prostitution services.
Police say that his girlfriend started attending school in Tallahassee, while Walker went back to New York for a period of time.
That's when, according to TPD, Walker came back to Florida and tried to force her back into prostitution. TPD says that he brought her to Motel 6, where she was able to call police while Walker left the hotel room to go to the store.
According to the report, Walker is facing forced labor charges as well as charges for living off a prostitute's earnings. He is at the Leon County Jail.
