VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - A man has been arrested after Valdosta police say he broke into the victim's hotel room and assaulted her with a screwdriver.
The Valdosta Police Department said that Willie James was arrested after they were called to a hotel about a domestic dispute in the 1800 block of North Ashley Street on Wednesday.
Police say they got the call around 4:15 a.m.
When they arrived on scene, James ran and refused to stop. However, despite his attempts to get away from police, he was arrested after a short chase.
The victim told police that James had broken into her hotel that she had been staying at the hotel to avoid contact with James. She said that somehow, James had found out about her staying at the hotel and broke in, trying to assault her with a screwdriver.
Officers who talked to her said that she had cuts on her body, likely from the altercation.
James was booked into the Lowndes County Jail and warrants have been obtained for James for the
following:
o Aggravated Assault (FELONY)
o Cruelty to Children x 2 (FELONY)
o Criminal Trespass to Private Property (Misdemeanor)
o Obstruction of an Officer (Misdemeanor)
