MADISON, Fla. (WTXL) - A man accused of stealing a Madison County woman's car after she gave him a ride to her home was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle.
Daniel Alan Good, 31, of Leesburg, FL, was arrested Saturday by Madison County Sheriff's Office deputies who were led to him by a K-9 that found him hiding under a brush pile.
The victim gave Good a ride to her home Saturday because it was near a destination Good told her he was trying to reach.
Upon arriving at the victims’ residence, Good asked her to take him to Leesburg.
When the victim refused, Good asked to retrieve his belongings from the vehicle. A short time later the victim realized that Good had stolen her White Nissan Altima.
On Saturday night, relatives of the victim found the stolen car at the Loves Truck Stop on County Road 255 in Lee at the I-10 interchange and phoned deputies.
Two witness’s recognized the car, and when they approached it and confronted Good, Good ran away and was later found by a K-9 in a large brush pile.
Deputies found a small amount of cocaine in Good’s pocket. He also faces charges of possession of cocaine and resisting arrest.
The stolen vehicle was returned back to the owner.
