TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Tallahassee police have arrested a man they said cut a woman while their 23-month-old son was on the bed.
Diaz Portillo was arrested on Thursday after Tallahassee Police Department was called to a domestic disturbance at a home on Holmes Street. When police arrived on scene, they saw dried blood on Portillo's hands and immediately handcuffed him.
When police talked to the victim, she told them that she was lying on the bed with her 23-month-old son who Portillo was the father of. The two began to argue about food and after, Portillo told the victim to move their son so he could lay down next to her.
The victim told police that when she refused they began arguing again. When the victim got off the bed and tried to leave, Portillo took out a pocket knife and put it under the woman's neck.
As soon as the blade touched her, the woman told police that she grabbed the knife. When she grabbed it, she said that Portillo snatched the knife back, cutting her in between her thumb and right index finger in the process.
Police said the victim then walked outside and called 911, leaving their son inside with Portillo. They said that the son did not sustain any injuries.
Portillo is being charged with aggravated battery and is being held at the Leon County Jail.
