JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - One man is in custody after a family came home to an unknown suspect inside.
Graceville Police got the call on Friday to the home on the 900 block of 8th avenue to family members saying Robert Smith, 30, had barricaded himself in.
Officers say two of the residents forced their way into the home and Smith tried to hit them with a large rock several times.
They were able to disarm Smith until law enforcement arrived. Officers say that they found $300 dollars worth of jewelry from the home on him.
The Graceville Police Department said there was evidence that he had been staying there for several days.
Smith is facing charges of burglary with assault and grand theft.
