Man arrested after breaking into local business, stealing motorcycle

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - A man is facing multiple felony charges after breaking into a local business and stealing a motorcycle in Valdosta. 

Elliot Chandler, 34, was arrested by the Valdosta Police Department on July 5. 

On Thursday at about 6:30 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of West Magnolia Street (Dedicated Motorcycle Company) in reference to a commercial burglary in progress.  

When officers arrived on scene, they talked with the business owner, who said that someone had just burglarized his business. 

The business owner told officers that he saw Chandler breaking his display window and stealing a motorcycle by pulling it through the broken window. 

The police report states, he tried to stop the crime, but Chandler got away with the motorcycle. 

According to the police report, multiple units responded to the area to find Chandler and a VPD K-9 was brought to the scene, tracking Chandler in a westward direction. 

Within minutes, Chandler was found behind a home in the 400 block of JL Lomax Drive, while still in the possession of the stolen motorcycle.  

Based on the evidence, he is being charged with felony burglary, felony criminal damage to property, and felony theft by taking motor vehicle. 

Chandler was taken to the Lowndes County Jail.
