PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. (AP) - A 47-year-old man is accused of forging signatures to steal hundreds of thousands of dollars from clients who lived in Century Village in Pembroke Pines.
Ariel Luis Hernandez appeared in Broward County court Thursday to face two charges each of grand theft from a person 65 or older and misuse of personal identification. Bond was set at $300,000. He was also ordered to stay out of Century Village.
The South Florida Sun Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1CYjRl8 ) reports police expect to find more victims.
Attorney David Weintraub said Hernandez stole more than $200,000 from his client, using forged documents to transfer money from a brokerage account to a bank account he controlled.
Hernandez's attorney Sherri Romano told the judge her client isn't a flight risk because he has strong ties to the community.
