ATLANTA (AP) - Police have identified the man accused of shooting a police officer near an apartment complex in Atlanta.
WGCL-TV (http://bit.ly/25HvsY1 ) reports on Sunday that the suspect has been identified as Michael Thomas in the shooting of an Atlanta police officer. The shooting occurred Saturday afternoon at the Allure at Brookwood apartment complex, about five miles from downtown Atlanta.
Police spokeswoman Elizabeth Espy says the officer was wearing a vest. The officer was alert, conscious and breathing after being shot
WSB-TV says a suspect was shot in the shoulder and taken into custody.
Police say the other suspect Antonio Bell ran into a wooded area behind the apartment complex and was captured later.
It was not immediately clear what transpired before the shootings took place.
The name of the officer has not been released.
