TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee man accused of killing another man and shooting up a vehicle with three young children inside was found guilty on Wednesday of first degree homicide and manslaughter.
Calvin Holiday, 24, was charged with the murder of 40-year-old Taris Nickolas. He was facing charges for attempted first degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee man accused of killing another man and shooting up a vehicle with three young children inside is on trial this week.
Calvin Holiday, 24, has been charged with the murder of 40-year-old Taris Nickolas. He is also facing charges for attempted first degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Holiday is due in court on Wednesday to start trial.
He was arrested as the suspected gunman in a September 2017 shooting in the 600 block of Steele Drive.
According to court documents, Holiday was upset with the mother of his children and her new boyfriend, Lee Claridy, the night of the shooting.
Documents say that Nickolas and his wife were traveling through town when they stopped to visit a nephew, Claridy, and his girlfriend, the mother of Holiday's children, who lived in the 600 block of Steele Drive.
When the two were getting ready to leave from the visit, Holiday "pulled up and parked in the parking spot directly to the right of them."
When Holiday got out of the car, he pulled out a gun and pointed it Claridy. The report says that Nickolas tried to intervene, but he and Claridy were shot multiple times in the process.
Documents say that Holiday also shot at a nearby car that had his children inside of it.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A man is being charged with second degree murder in connection to a fatal shooting on Steele Drive over the weekend.
The Tallahassee Police Department says Calvin Holiday has been charged with attempted first degree murder and second degree murder.
Police say the shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night in the 600 block of Steele Drive.
An investigation revealed that Holiday was upset with the mother of his children and her new boyfriend, Lee Claridy, the night of the shooting.

Witnesses note that Holiday also shot at a nearby car that had his children inside of it. Claridy's girlfriend later admitted to shooting at Holiday, resulting in his hospitalization.
As a result of his injuries, Nickolas passed away.
TPD arrested Holiday on Sept. 26 in connection to the shooting. He was treated for his injuries and was booked into the Leon County Jail.
