LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) - Lowndes County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a train conductor found a body.
The body has been identified as a white male, weighing 150 pounds. The body has been sent to the crime lab for an autopsy.
According to authorities, the body was found near the Lowndes and Brooks county line on the afternoon of Thursday, July 13.
Sheriff Ashley Paulk says a CSX train conductor, heading east near the Withlacoochee River, spotted what appeared to be a body and called police.
Sheriff Paulk says they believe the person had been dead for about four or five days based on decomposition.
