TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Christmas usually means most places are closed for the holiday.
But as WTXL ABC 27's Stephen Jiwanmall shows us, there was still plenty to do.
Many people went outside and found things to do.
Those include people gathering in Frenchtown at a Project Annie event. Miss Annie Johnson throws a huge Christmas feast every single year.
On Christmas Day, a team of volunteers helped serve hundreds who stopped by.
Movie theaters are also open on Christmas. At the AMC parking lot, there were no spots. in the middle of the day, and a lot of people were heading in to see the newest releases.
Among the many people who took advantage of the beautiful sunny day by spending part of their Christmas outside was Tallahassee resident Dave Robertson.
"It's good to be out of the house and be out just looking at people, looking at other people," Robertson said. "Everybody seems to be in a pretty good mood. Everybody has been saying 'hi' and smiling."
Tallahassee resident Vivian Marrone shared what Christmas Day means for her.
"For me? To be with God," Marrone said, "To enjoy the birth of God and in that way, I'm very happy."
And you can't have Christmas without food. A lot of places in town are closed, but not here. Open was Da Khyber Grill, an Afghan-Pakistani kabob house, and it's been open for the past two Christmases.
Farman Ullah is the owner of Da Khyber Grill.
"I love food, so I want everybody to have a good meal," Ullah said. "And I know a lot of businesses are closed on Christmas Day, and that's one of the reasons we opened."
People showed up to chow down on a different type of Christmas dinner.
