Apalachicola, FL (WTXL) -- A collision on Bayview Lane causes 9 year old to be hospitalized after being thrown out of the back of a truck.
Robert Baxley was waiting to turn left onto Bayview Lane. The Chevy Silverado was facing east on US-98.
Baxley turned left with out yielding when a Nissan Titan was traveling west on US-98 and approaching Bayview Lane.
The driver of the Nissan, Ottice Amison, steered right and attempted to avoid a collision.
The left front of the Chevy hit the left front of the Nissan causing the truck to rotate counterclockwise as it traveled south.
There was a 9 year old child sitting in the bed of the truck. The child was thrown from the vehicle as it spun down US-98.
The child passenger landed in the eastbound lane of US-98.
Both Baxley and the child are in serious condition at Sacred Heart of Port St. Joe Hospital.
Amison is also in the hospital with minor condition injuries.
The road was closed for approximately two and a half hours after the accident.
