TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — A traveling exhibit about the Magna Carta and the role it has played in the law for 800 years is on display this month at the Florida Supreme Court in Tallahassee.
Court officials say the exhibit will be there from Monday through Feb. 26.
The exhibit aim is to improve public understanding of the British document that many American lawyers, judges, and historians say is central symbol of the rule of law in the U.S. Many concepts in the Magna Carta remain in use in American courtrooms today.
Florida Chief Justice Jorge Labarga said Friday the document known as the Great Charter was key to the U.S. founders and was the root of many rights and liberties they adopted.
The exhibit is on display from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
