MADISON, FL (WTXL) -- A Madison man is in jail after taking police on a high-speed chase Monday.

The Madison County Sheriff's Department said 30-year-old Michael Cooks was driving a white Toyota around 5:30 PM when he clipped a car north of the river on Valdosta Highway and kept going.

Officers from the Madison Police Department spotted Cooks, who sped off through Madison, trying to avoid them. Police put an end to the chase when they forced Cooks' car into a wall in front of the county courthouse.

No injuries were reported at either the accident or the chase.

Cooks was arrested and taken to Madison County Jail, facing a number of charges, including aggravated assault, drug possession and driving without a license.
