GILLCHRIST COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A Madison man walking across a highway was killed when he was hit by a Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office deputy's patrol vehicle early Monday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Max D. Bailey, 28, was crossing U.S. Highway 129 eastbound in front of the deputy's 2014 Chevrolet SUV patrol vehicle about 1:20 a.m. Monday, the FHP said.
The deputy was traveling northbound on U.S. 129 about .2 miles north of County Road 339.
Bailey was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services personnel, the FHP said.
